MIP Print

Reported results

The monitoring of advertising investment in the print press provides the industry with the value of advertising investment in the print press, both as the  number of advertisements and as their value calculated at list price (rate card).
These results are supplemented by further information:
  • about the publications monitored:  title of the publication, frequency, distribution area, content category, publisher, edition, date of appearance on the market, etc.
  • about the advertisement: format, description of the format, position within the page, page number, description in words, editorial context, etc.
  • about the brand: brand name, client name, classification of the brand using a 3-level classification tree, etc.
  • about the advertising campaign: campaign name, campaign type, name of the contractor of the advertising campaign, etc.

Methodology
The methodology of MIP Print Press was created and approved by the members of the Departmental Group for Print Press Monitoring within the Print Press Department and can be consulted in full on the MIP Print Press rules page. The main stages in carrying out the monitoring are the following:
  1. Publishers declare all the advertisements appearing in their own publications, within a maximum of 2 days from the appearance of the publication on the market, using the Media Monitor online application.
  2. BRAT verifies the accuracy of the declaration for each advertisement, using the printed copy of the publication and the copy in .pdf format:
BRAT checks whether all the advertisements that appeared in printed form have been declared by the publisher.
BRAT checks whether all the advertisements declared by the publisher appear in the printed form of the publication

  1. Every Thursday, BRAT publishes all the information relating to the advertising campaigns run in the publications during the previous week, Monday to Sunday.

Publication of the results
The results of the monitoring of advertising investment in the print press are available in the Media Monitor results reporting application.

The MIP print press results are published weekly, every Thursday, for all the advertising campaigns run in the previous week, from Monday to Sunday.
In addition, every day until 2:00 p.m., beneficiaries receive, through the "early warning" service, alerts covering all the advertising campaigns launched on the current day in the national dailies.

How a publication can be registered for monitoring

In order to register a publication in MIP Print Press, the publisher must be a member of BRAT and of the Circulation Audit Department. The information and documentation required to become a BRAT member are available on the joining the organisation page.

If the publisher is not a BRAT member, it can register the publication for monitoring through the advertising sales house it works with, provided that this sales house is a beneficiary of the MIP Print Press study.

The "early warning" service

The "early warning" system provides users with information on the advertising campaigns being launched in the monitored publications, as follows:

  • all the advertising campaigns launched in the national dailies on the current day
  • all the advertising campaigns launched in the monthly, fortnightly and weekly publications that appeared on the market at most 2 days earlier.

The information provided to clients through the Early Warning service is complete and verified information on the advertising campaigns mentioned above.

The monitoring data is sent by e-mail as a report in .xls format, customised for each individual user, daily until 2:00 p.m.

The Early Warning service is available free of charge to all MIP Print Press beneficiaries through the Media Monitor application.
